Hello Again 3.0 mulliganed an opening hand with workable mana but little useful development, then kept a slow, synergistic seven containing four lands, Ratadrabik of Urborg, Mondrak, Glory Dominus, and Part in Friendship. Death & Taxes kept its original seven, won the opening roll, and played first. Hello Again 3.0 nevertheless established the stronger resource position, developing Anafenza, Captain Sisay, Gandalf the White, Pitiless Plunderer, sacrifice outlets, and later Mondrak.

Death & Taxes spent most of the game constrained to four usable lands plus Arcane Signet, but its limited mana repeatedly bought relevant disruption. Parallax Wave temporarily removed Anafenza and Captain Sisay, while Kinjalli’s Sunwing ensured they returned tapped. Mangara and the deck’s other removal permanently exiled Ratadrabik of Urborg, Yosei, the Morning Star, Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim, Mondrak, and Pitiless Plunderer.

The game’s largest resource swing came during Mangara’s Turn 10 Settle the Wreckage exchange. Anafenza sacrificed Anafenza and Gandalf through Ayli before Settle resolved. Gandalf doubled the Pitiless Plunderer trigger caused by Anafenza’s death and the trigger caused by his own departure; Mondrak then doubled the Treasure created by each trigger. Starting with two Treasures, Hello Again 3.0 created eight more for a total of ten. Mangara then exiled Ayli, while Settle exiled Mondrak and Pitiless Plunderer.

Those ten Treasures did not produce a winning board. Three were spent recasting Anafenza, and two were later sacrificed to Braids, Arisen Nightmare, leaving five at the end of the game. More importantly, the cards that generated the windfall were gone, Aven Mindcensor restricted Captain Sisay and Grim Tutor to the top four cards, and Anafenza’s later draws included Temple Garden, Command Tower, and Forest. Hello Again 3.0 still pushed Mangara to 13 life and 16 commander damage, but could not rebuild enough defense.

Death & Taxes converted its surviving evasive creatures into a clock. Sword of Fire and Ice turned Restoration Angel into a 5/6 attacker and killed Captain Sisay, while Kinjalli’s Sunwing and Aven Mindcensor continued attacking overhead. On Turn 12, with Anafenza and Braids tapped and no blockers available, Death & Taxes attacked with six creatures for 13 damage, killing Hello Again 3.0 from 10 life.

• ChatGPT kept the replacement seven: four lands covering all three colors, a Turn 3 Anafenza through Forest, City of Brass, and Fetid Heath, plus Ratadrabik of Urborg, Mondrak, Glory Dominus, and Part in Friendship. It judged the hand slow but functional enough that going to six would be unnecessary greed.

• Death & Taxes kept its original seven. Mangara won the opening roll 20-14 and played first.

• Death & Taxes remained mana-screwed through most of the game, operating largely on four usable lands and Arcane Signet. Its limited development produced a narrow sequence of high-impact control cards rather than a broad engine.

• Parallax Wave held Anafenza and Captain Sisay in exile until the Wave was sacrificed with no fade counters remaining. Kinjalli’s Sunwing made both creatures return tapped.

Game Context

The original game transcript records Death & Taxes winning the opening roll 20-14 and playing first. The previously stored first-player metadata was corrected during narrative recovery to match that source record.

The “5-0 exile score” counted opposing cards permanently removed to exile. Death & Taxes exiled Ratadrabik of Urborg, Yosei, the Morning Star, Ayli, Eternal Pilgrim, Mondrak, Glory Dominus, and Pitiless Plunderer. Hello Again 3.0 permanently exiled none of Death & Taxes’ cards. Temporary Parallax Wave exile and Mangara’s own exile were not included.

The apparent resource contradiction is real but not mysterious. Death & Taxes had poor mana development, while Hello Again 3.0 briefly possessed ten Treasures. Those figures describe mana access, not board quality. The Treasure burst occurred while Anafenza’s sacrifice engine was being dismantled: Ayli, Mondrak, and Pitiless Plunderer all ended the exchange in exile, while Gandalf died. The remaining Treasures paid for Anafenza’s return and Braids triggers but could not replace those pieces.

ChatGPT converted some of its advantage into pressure. It rebuilt Anafenza, found and cast Braids through Aven Mindcensor, drained Mangara twice, and reached 16 commander damage. Its later card flow, however, produced Temple Garden, Command Tower, and Forest after mana was already abundant. Death & Taxes survived the pressure and won the attrition game with the evasive creatures it had managed to deploy during the mana screw.
