Game Summary

Sliver Overlord kept a slow but functional opening seven with three lands, Worldly Tutor, and Teferi’s Protection. Worldly Tutor found Manaweft Sliver, which supplied the fixing needed to cast Sliver Overlord on Turn 4. Although the Hive repeatedly drew lands instead of additional action, Overlord established a legitimate tutor engine and began finding specific Slivers to answer the developing board.

Romana II entered on Turn 3 and The Sixth Doctor followed on Turn 5. The first historic spell cast afterward was Nissa, Who Shakes the World. The Sixth Doctor copied the spell, creating a nonlegendary Nissa token, and Romana II copied that token, producing three independently activatable Nissas with normal starting loyalty. They animated lands, generated substantial mana, and enabled Arena Rector and The Chain Veil. Sliver Overlord responded by tutoring Harmonic Sliver, whose triggered ability destroyed The Chain Veil before it generated any additional planeswalker activations.

The next escalation came from Teferi, Hero of Dominaria, likewise expanded into three planeswalkers by The Sixth Doctor and Romana II. When one Teferi token attempted to put Sliver Overlord third from the top of its owner’s library, Teferi’s Protection phased out the Sliver battlefield and caused the ability to lose its target. Tekuthal, Inquiry Dominus then entered, although no proliferate activation was recorded. On the following turn, Sliver Overlord found Shifting Sliver and used its evasion to kill one Nissa and one Teferi token while damaging another Teferi. The Hive had developed meaningful disruption and could still pressure the planeswalker board.

The two surviving Nissas nevertheless produced seven 3/3 land creatures. Those lands attacked alongside The Sixth Doctor, Arena Rector, and Tekuthal. With only Shifting Sliver available to block, Sliver Overlord fell from 31 life to 6. Elspeth, Sun’s Champion followed in the second main phase and was again multiplied into three copies: one token Elspeth destroyed Sliver Overlord, while the other two created six Soldier tokens. Sliver Overlord was recast on the following turn, but the Hive had only three blockers against seven animated lands, The Sixth Doctor, Arena Rector, Tekuthal, and six Soldiers. With lethal available on the next combat, Sliver Overlord conceded.

Game Context

Sliver Overlord repeatedly drew lands, but the deck was not nonfunctional. Manaweft Sliver enabled the commander, and Overlord successfully tutored Harmonic Sliver and Shifting Sliver to disrupt The Chain Veil and attack the planeswalker board. Teferi’s Protection also preserved the entire Sliver battlefield from Teferi’s attempted removal. The Hive developed a coherent game plan; it was overwhelmed by planeswalker value compounding faster than its tutors could dismantle it.

The Doctor/Romana engine required substantial sequencing and bookkeeping. The Sixth Doctor copied the first historic spell cast during each turn, creating nonlegendary token copies of Nissa, Teferi, and Elspeth. Romana II then copied those newly entered tokens, turning each spell into three separately activatable planeswalkers. The Chain Veil was removed before it added activations, and Tekuthal did not proliferate, so the dominant board came primarily from the number of independent planeswalker copies and their normal abilities.

Several rules and board-state corrections occurred during play. An attempted second Nissa activation targeting an already animated Breeding Pool was rewound because Nissa requires a noncreature land. ChatGPT also withdrew an attempted Quick Sliver play after recognizing that the required mana was unavailable; Quick Sliver itself has flash, so timing was not the problem. These corrections reflected the genuine state-management burden of a game involving multiple planeswalker copies, animated lands, unusual mana production, phasing, and delayed Teferi untaps.
